NASA releases stunning pictures of brightly-lit India-Pakistan border
Some
pictures have been released by an astronaut aboard the International
Space Station on Sunday that shows the brightly-lit India-Pakistan
Border at night.
The nighttime panorama clearly shows
the port city of Karachi in the bright cluster if lights facing the
Arabian Sea which looks to be totally black.
The picture released by NASA on their
Facebook shows Earth’s one of the few places where an international
boundary can be spotted at night.
The snaky border between India and Pakistan is beautifully lit by security lights that have a different orange tone.
This Astronaut photograph
ISS045-E-27869, taken by a member of the Expedition 45 crew was captured
on September 23, 2015 with a Nikon D4 digital camera using a 25
millimeter lens and is provided by the ISS Crew Earth Observations
Facility and the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, Johnson Space
Center.
On their website, NASA mentions the
image was taken with a 16 mm lens, which provides the wide field of
view, as the International Space Station (ISS) was tracking towards the
southeast across India.
The pictures have been cropped and worked upon to improve contrast and lens artifacts have been removed.
In order to help astronauts take
pictures of Earth, the International Space Station Program has extended
full support that will be of the maximum value to scientist and the
public and to make those images without restraint accessible on
Internet.
