Notification Tones For Samsung J5
Notification Tones For Samsung
Note: this guide applies only to Samsung smartphones running Android Jellybean (version 4.1.2) and Windows PCs.
In order to set a custom notification sound for your Samsung J5 you must place the sound file you wish to use in the Notifications folder on your phone's memory card. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Right-click on the sound file on your PC that you wish to use as a notification sound on your smartphone. Click on Copy in the context menu. Note: this sound file must be an mp3.
2. Connect your smartphone to the PC with your USB data cable.
3. Your smartphone will show you different options for how it can connect to your PC. Touch the option USB mass storage.
4. An AutoPlay window may appear on your PC similar to the one below. (Your smartphone may register on the PC as a removable disk named with a different letter).
If an AutoPlay window does not appear simply open Windows Explorer (or My Computer if you're using Windows XP) and click on the removable disk that your smartphone's memory card is listed as in the navigation pane on the left. Note that it may take a few seconds before your phone's memory appears in the navigation pane as a removable disk.
If your smartphone includes an SD card you may see two removable disks in the navigation pane (as in the photo above): one for your phone's internal memory and one for the SD card. It may not be clear which is which. Your smartphone's internal memory will contain many system folders such as LOST and Alarms (as pictured above) so if the removable disk you've selected shows no such folders, click the other removable disk instead.
5. Double-click on the Notifications folder. (If the Notifications folder isn't immediately visible you may need to open a folder called "media" to find it located within.)
6. Right-click a blank space inside the Notifications folder and select Paste from the context menu to paste in the sound file you copied earlier.
7. A few seconds after the sound file has completely transferred disconnect the USB data cable from your PC and smartphone.
8. From your smartphone's Home screen touch Apps.
2. Touch Settings (you may need to swipe left or right to locate it first).
3. Touch Sound (you may need to touch the My Device tab first if your settings are divided among tabs).
4. Touch Default notifications (this may read as Default notification sound on your device).
5. Locate and touch the sound file you added and then touch OK.
